An introduction to psychological principles of learning and development of the elementary age child. Explores dimensions of development indicative of middle childhood, and ways in which development and learning are interwoven with social and cultural contexts in the educative process.

Prerequisites: Graduate Standing and enrollment in the Multiple or Single Subject Credential Program.

Honestly not a bad class but the epiphany farming was getting kinda tiring. Lecture/Section attendance matters so go to those but dont be suprised if they start to feel repetitive. Nice guy though.

This is one of my favorite classes I have taken at UCSB. His lectures are very grasping. There are a lot of homework but its all managable. 3 position papers and 1 project. No exams!

This class material is a joke. Unless you're an extreme radical leftist, do not take this class. You will only cover ideas that are insanely progressive and so extreme that I could not help but laugh at anyone agreeing with 90 percent of what we covered. Save your sanity and take a real course.

Wow!! Best professor I've ever had at UCSB!! He is so inspirational and makes the classroom feel very safe. He challenged me in ways I never have been put through before, but in a good way. He has such a strong passion for what he does and you can tell. Very inspiring, we need more teachers like him. As long as you put in effort, you'll be fine!

The best professor I ever had at UCSB. He cares deeply about his students and for the subjects he teaches. Some people were uncomfortable with his lecture style because he does play "devil's advocate" a lot but this is because he wants you to think critically. Attendance was mandatory but so interesting and inspirational if you care about it.
