Working with the artistic director of LAUNCH PAD and 3 professional playwrights, this 3-week intensive course workshops a new play every week. Student actors, directors, designers, dramaturgs, playwrights, and stage managers learn the vital skills of working on new plays in the earliest stages of their development. The workshop culminates in an invited public reading at the end of each week. Over the 3 weeks, participants have the opportunity to take on different functions in the process.

CollegeRisa is absolutely fantastic. She's so nice and understanding, and the workload was not difficult. Just reading a couple plays and few assignments, DISCUSSION is important. I would honestly take any class she'd teach, she's a really good teacher.
Risa is amazing. This was the coolest freshman seminar you could possibly take! Be part of a lauchpad brand-new play, but not actually put in all the work.
Risa is a thoughtful directing teacher & has a lot of helpful techniques, if time-consuming ones. Directing scenes is a great experience. Short reaction pieces on directors are worthwhile but there are far too many of them; they feel like busywork. Her own directing is engaging, but the new plays in the Launch Pad series are almost always dreaful!

Risa is a very demanding teacher, but this is precisely how she gets so much out of her students. She is honest, inspiring, and talented. She is very passionate and takes class time seriously. If you want to work hard and you don't mind lots of paper work take her class. She is definately my favorite professor in the Drama department.
Risa is an amazing teacher, director and person. I love her work and love working with her...She's Awesome
