Examines the concepts and experiences that cohere around warfare and weaponized conflict. Investigates the modern shape of war, its technologies, its strategies and how it’s infused within broader political and social life. Topics and concepts include military, civil, political, and social violence; insurgency and counterinsurgency; revolution and counterrevolution; enmity and the logics of race; power and force; sovereignty and territorial space; security and protection; and communicative reason and the lack thereof.

Prerequisites: ANTH 2: Intro to Cultural Anth; not open to Freshmen.
