Through this year-long internship, students work under faculty direction to produce an issue of the UCSB History Department?s Undergraduate Journal. Students meet every two weeks and gain practical experience in scholarly publishing disseminating calls for papers, soliciting undergraduate contributions, locating peer reviewers, facilitating revisions with authors, and bibliographic and copywriting work. They also gain a working knowledge of the UCSB Library?s online publication platform, which will host the journal. Students utilize various digital humanities tools - podcasts, social media, and websites - to promote the undergraduate research being published in Journal as well as host an annual showcase of scholars? work.

CollegeJarrett is an awesome lecturer! He makes the information interesting and digestible, and the workload was totally reasonable and manageable. TAs always deducted a few points from every assignment, which was frustrating. But attend class, participate in section, and earn easy points from completion-based assignments and you'll be fine.
Clearly very passionate, great guy. Very iclicker heavy, section attendance and participation matters as it is part of your grade. No midterms and optional final that can only increase your grade. 3 labs, sections up til week 7 are reading heavy. Grades may also be TA dependent which kind of sucks. Overall fair class and it's not bad. Recommended.
Professor Jarett was a great. Loved taking his class and it was super chill and easy. Stay on top of the section readings and lecture notes. He does give his TA's a lot of power when grading. My TA, Christmas, was so bad. Her grading was horrible and feedback was little to none. However, Jarett was awesome and super passionate about his teachings.
Honestly one of the best professors I got this quarter. He is very chill. Yeah there's a lot of reading to do, but it's a history class, of course there is. Overall cool guy, great TAs, good lectures, would take again.
Passionate professor. Sections just depend on your TA, but there is a decent amount of reading for every section, and be prepared to actually read or at least heavily skim because the freewrites go into detail. Participation in section definitely matters, so get ready to talk. 3 labs and 1 final project but just pay attention and you will be fine.
Jarett is such a great professor!! Loved this class and him. Iclicker mandatory lecture, a couple fun and interesting history labs, graded free writes in section, and a project at the end of the quarter. No midterm or final, there is a easy quiz during lecture though. Great professor and great lecture.
