Professor Wu cares a great deal about student feedback and will change her lecture style accordingly. There is a bit of a learning curve to the homework assignments (weekly online quizzes, biweekly math problem packets, and weekly "labs" to learn to use excel) but low grades are dropped, and TAs go over some problems due dates. Easy class to pass.

This class is the best alternative for the Math34b credit for ES majors. The last 1/3 of the class is the only portion about calc, while the other 2/3s is statistics and basic algebra. There's no midterm due to weekly online quizzes and the final is chill. However, this course consumed my life with weekly Microsoft excel labs and long problem sets.

I took ES 145 with her !! (but couldn't select that). It's a really amazing and informative class, and Prof Wu is always ready to help students. You will have to do dimensional analysis and read quite a bit every week but I learned so much. If you're interested in data visualization and learning Excel/R, this class is a great choice.

I really enjoyed having a math class in an environmental context. I had to spend the most time in this class to do well, but I learned so many valuable things. There's an excel lab due every week and then a homework packet due every other week. Such a good class!

Super approachable and caring professor! She is very knowledgeable in the field and continues to do relevant, fascinating research. While she does push you a bit, it is worth the skills gained.
