Collegei still have nightmares of this class not just because it's ochem but because of the professor. i may have gotten an A- BUT AT THE COST OF MY SOUL. she was just straight up mean. a class never went by that she didn't say we were going to fail. our class averages were in the 40s. GET LEWIS
Okay, I know Anyika gets a lot of hate but shes honestly really good. I prefer her to the other OCHEM professors. Although she seems intimidating, its actually for the best. Her "energetic" attitude helped me know what to really focus on. DO BOOK PROBLEMS(in & end of chapter)OCHEM is already a hard subject to teach, so I think she does a fair job.
Prof Anyika is very discouraging and is constantly fear mongering students in hopes that it makes them study better. Instead, it leaves students afraid of organic chemistry and gives the class the mindset that they will fail. Minimal curve and extremely low averages. I would recommend taking 109A with another professor.
I had her for CHEM105 which covered general chem, bio chem, and organic chem in one course and she was amazing! I would 100% recommend her to anyone scared of chemistry. She uses common language to explain the process and she's pretty funny. She genuinely cares about her student's success.
difficult only because its ochem, but I loved her. Her lectures are highly organized and structured. if you do textbook problems, you will be golden for exams (they are very similar, if not identical). Don't be fooled by my A, I worked my ass off for it, but its not unrealistic, I got a 62 on the first exam and was still able to pull it off
I don't understand the hate. Anyika is easily my favorite professor at ucsb. She cares a lot about her students understandings and has taught me study habits that I will use forever. She will scare you into studying harder which ended up making me enjoy ochem way more.
