This professor embraces creativity and her teaching/thought processes may be more unconventional. Her main goal is to make her students think. If you are looking to learn more about the technical aspects of music, this class is not for you. She certainly has an open-mind, and you can tell she is deeply passionate.

is more concerned about people being on their laptops than making the class even the slightest bit thought provoking. the first half of every lecture is a repetition of the same things. talks infuriatingly slow about the most nonsensical dumb points. ruined a perfectly good course by not engaging with the topic in any real way. insultingly easy UD

The most boring, pointless class I've ever taken. I don't think she's said a single thing of substance. She has destroyed my perception of music as a field of study as I wonder how low the requirements are to earn a PhD in this field. If you want an easy A, at least find a class that won't make you fall asleep.

Pointless class. Repetitive and not much to learn from. The assignments are a waste of time and you are expected to buy tickets for "concerts" outside of the classroom. Would not recommend this course or professor.

Easy A but extremely annoying professor. Uses the first 10 minutes of every single class to lecture about not being on laptops even though no one is on their laptop. Says a whole lot of nothing throughout the extremely boring lectures. Every lecture is the exact same and she makes no points. It's a waste of time.

It was a seminar environment and an engaging class. Professor Hellier is very kind, passionate, and insightful. There was a Group project every week which could be tough if your group members aren't cooperative. Fair amount of reading and writing but only one assignment every week. Presentation heavy but not bad at all. Would highly recommend!
