CollegeAkiyo is a tough grader and if you don't do it in the way she likes she will deduct points. She's a nice teacher outside of class, but she also calls out students for not scoring high enough on the tests. Personally would not take again, even later in courses.
It really does drag out and was not what I was hoping for.
She is fine.
Compared to other teachers in Japanese department, she is not that good. Maybe because other teachers are so great. She has a kind of humor that not everyone likes. Overall, she is fine.
Akiyo sensei is such an amazing professor. She is always super energized during lectures and does a really good job at encouraging engagement. She's also always happy to answer questions and help clarify anything. The grading criteria was super clear and dates were always made known well in advance. Highly highly recommend.
Akiyo sensei is a very friendly professor. The course curriculum is straight forward, though for many the class pace is fast. As long as you study for the vocab/Kanji quizzes and really get the Kana alphabets in your head the class is intuitive.
