CHEM130 . A Month Ago

Prof. Lipshutz is one of the most inspiring professors I've had. Super passionate about green chemistry and makes lectures actually interesting. Challenging class but you'll come out understanding and appreciating chemistry more.

He makes it clear that you will definitely not fail this class. I did not do very well on the midterm and final (~50%), but I still passed his class. I did not attend lectures — instead I focused on flashcards and mechanisms which make up most of the tests. I highly recommend going to his study sessions since he goes over specific problems.

Lipshutz is a funny guy, but I really learned nothing in this class. I went to every lecture and did all of the flash cards but still felt like I didn't learn an ounce of Ochem. I got a B tho, despite getting like 50% on both tests. If you're really into O-Chem, I think he's probably a great professor. Otherwise, wouldn't recommend.

Would take again, but must attend lectures regularly and it helped to have the flashcards he suggested in the beginning of the course.

My favorite chemistry professor ever! Genuinely cares about his students and the field of chemistry (ask him about Green Chemistry!). His tests were unarguably difficult but so satisfying when I could do it because he taught us so well. Don't stress about your grade. He's a fantastic, engaging person, so show up to every lecture.

CHEM109BH . 2 Years Ago

Bruce is my favorite professor in this department. I like his sense of humor and his passion towards his work and teaching. He sincerely wants his students to excel in organic chemistry. If you have the chance, just get into his class and you won't regret!
