The doctrine of nonviolence is applicable across South Asian Religious Traditions. Students will be introduced to the background of nonviolence and its contemporary expressions. This course is divided into two main parts: theoretical aspects of nonviolence and how nonviolence is applied across cultures to problems of the environment and social justice. Practical aspects of nonviolence will merge philosophies of East and West, explaining nonviolence in daily lives.

I took his class Gandhi & Resistance. Mr. Vyas is a good teacher. Hes clearly passionate & knowledgable. He was understanding with the students. There was a lot of reading though, & it is necessary to do it. Most of the readings were interesting. The lectures were good too. Had daily (easy) 2-point quizzes, made grading easier. Two 6-page essays.

So I feel like since this was a language class the fact it is online it is hindered greatly, so I believe in person he probably would be a better teacher. However, the class on zoom everyday Monday-Thursday left me very tired and not learning. I took this class to learn Hindi but instead I just ended up doing it for a grade which is unfortunate.

Professor Vyas is a really good teacher & is always there if you have any questions. His teaching made it really easy for me to grasp the concepts of Hindi. He is very sweet so don't be afraid to ask for help! Make sure to attend every class because he does require an in-class quiz for each lecture. Homework is really easy and doable.
