CollegeBrook Gardner was an ok lecturer. I think some people are too hard on the way that she teaches, I found that I enjoyed the style of lecturing and was able to access many resources outside the class that would help in the course. The tests were difficult but very doable. She is very accessible and has great TA's. You need to use your resources well
The class comes off very daunting at first but Dr. Louis is very aware of its perception and makes it as fair as it can be with his tests. Lecture heavy imo and it was hard for me to stay engaged during them but the video lectures were 80% of what I needed to be successful. Section, TAs, LAs were so helpful! Not my fav biochem class but v doable.
She went through some slides pretty quickly, but I liked her sense of humor and how she didn't make the class feel like JUST pure tests. As a transfer student and comparing her to other courses I've taken this year, I definitely miss her side formats, teaching style, and her TAs.
honestly think he doesn't get enough credit for how much he does for this class. very nice man who tries to understand where we get confused and his tests are very fair because he understands most people are new to coding and less familiar with calculus. material was fairly interesting but maybe not for everyone
108C seems irrelevant to biology and the biochemistry series. Prof makes everything math based and none of this seems to apply to real life. Posts online lectures in addition to in person lectures doubling the time commitment per week. Too much work and none of the material is applicable to biochemistry - maybe to bioinformatics.
This is a hard course. Gardner doesn't always explain the slides clearly in lecture, so make sure to go to TA sections.
