Economic analysis of environmental problems often requires us to evaluate policies with very long run, highly uncertainty consequences. This course covers developments in the theory of intertemporal choice and choice under uncertainty and their applications in environmental economics. Topics include social discounting, intergenerational ethics, precautionary policies, learning, ambiguity, and catastrophic risks.

CollegeAt the end of the day, Econ 10A is a self-study class, and everything, lectures, CLAS, office hours, is supplemental to the work and time you put in. In terms of W2026, the midterms were very fair, and comparable to and sometimes easier than F2025. The winter finals are very rough compared to fall, but not impossible, just gonna take some work.
Before I wasn't sure why he had so many negative reviews on here- the midterms were fair compared to other quarters and he explained concepts pretty well. That was until I just went through all the past winter finals- I would say more than half of the questions have no relation whatsoever to lecture/outside materials.
I can learn nothing from his lectures. His lectures are disorganized and confused. His exams are ridiculously hard, I don't know how the exams relate to lectures.
Didn't attend a single lecture but got an A+. The exams were chill.
I never had this Professor luckily, but when I was reviewing midterm and final exam questions from previous years, his exams were disgusting. I recommend taking 10a with any other professor.
class isnt really useful, make sure you do old exams and you'll be fine
