In this seminar, students take part in the research design of a survey research project in collaboration with an Organization of Indigenous Lawyers in Oaxaca. We analyze the interviews and fieldnotes of research conducted during June 2025 in Oaxaca, with indigenous authorities and other state authorities. In the class, students learn about the legal system in Mexico, Indigenous Customary Law, the discrimination faced by indigenous people in the legal system, and conflict resolution. Along with text analysis, coding and survey design.
