New Student Seminar . ECON 97
The primary goal of Economics 97 is to assist in a successful transition from high school to university learning. Economics 97 consists of lectures presented by staff, faculty, and current students to provide information about specific campus policies, the Economics major/curriculum, introduction to campus resources, and exploring career options. Economics 97 will allow you to develop time management skills, necessary study habits, and help you apply them to ensure a successful career as a Gaucho and beyond.

Professor Esponda is one of the best professors in the Econ department!! He's a great lecturer and cares about students, friendly in OH. Grading is 45% final and 55% attendance/problem sets/quizzes, and you get most points just by showing up and completing work. Classes are super fun and engaging. Do need to study for the final. Highly recommend

He is mean and unfair
He's lecture is actually fun. There are two way to count grade, 45% final 35% in-class activity and 20%problem sets or 100% final depends on whatever grant you higher total grade. Problem sets is graded on completion but in-class activity is kinda annoying since group work every time. The final is easy. He avoided 75% of thing that I don't know.
Closest you can get to MIT / Harvard at UCSB. Best Professor I've had in the econ dept. Low stress class with high reward. Highly highly recommend!
