This is my third class I've taken by Wittman and it's for a reason. He's so passionate about the material. The way he talks about history and architecture is very striking and articulate and I always look forward to going to his class. If you ever have a question in class, he is thoughtful and engaged. Amazing prof.

Brilliant professor. So well-spoken and the way he speaks is like poetry, I don't know how to explain it. Favorite professor at UCSB!

Professor Wittman has been my favorite professor at UCSB. I've taken two of his classes so far. His passion for the material shines through in every lecture—listening to him speak about architecture and its broader context often feels downright poetic. He's witty and deeply intellectual, making his classes a real highlight of my minor.

Such an interesting class, I always looked forward to coming to lecture (which is rare). Professor Wittman is so knowledgeable and passionate which made the class very intriguing. Class is made up of 4 things, attendance, 1 midterm, 1 final (non cumulative), and an in person essay. Relatively simple as long as you show up and pay attention!

If you take this for just an easy credit don't do it lol I made that mistake, he's so passionate and kind but be aware you need to memorize EVERYTHING! 60 seconds for random buildings, you must know all aspects and read the things he assigns. Essays can be a bit hard & heavily graded, lectures are a bit messy but he's a very cool professor :) fyi

His midterm and final were extremely difficult for me, though I admit these are partially due to my own shortcomings. His midterm and final are based on terms and you're given 60 seconds to recognize and identify all information on them (date, architect, name of structure, location, etc). I did not have fun in this class but it was interesting.
