Introduction to select methods for conducting advanced research in theatre, drama, and performance. The methodological focus, which varies according to instructor, may include ethnography, historiography, dramatic criticism, phenomenology, or audience reception, among others. Students will read exemplary monographs and statements of method from leading scholars in the field. They will then practically apply those methods to an original, ongoing research project that will culminate in a substantive seminar paper.

CollegeOverall not too difficult of a class, some extra credit offered and she was very nice and tried to know everyone's names which was impressive. Class was more interesting than I excepted, and it's clear how to succeed. Worthwhile GE to take.
I know what you're thinking. Theater sound lame, but this class is taught in a contemporary way. Material is taught via lectures and online plays/readings. Weekly discussions were the only homework. If you pay attention and understand the material at a surface level, you will highly likely get an A in this class.
Letty is very funny and sweet, weekly discussion posts + readings/plays to watch. Very easy class to get an A in, but make sure you come to class as attendance is taken. Midterm is an easy in-class and final is an online test.
Loved this professor, and my TA Cate was great as well!
She is the best! Her lecture slides are packed with info and not posted at the end which was the most difficult thing. She connects with sm with her students! Discussion posts, Essay midterm (in-class) and final (online). 3 Quizzes throughout but open-book and take-home. Have to rent like two theatre productions for $10 each but thats it! Take her!
Professor Lety wasn't problematic with grading, but her passive-aggressiveness and unwillingness to hear other opinions made the lectures difficult. Disagreeing with her led to snarky responses and hypocritical takes. That was irritating, but otherwise, the class was an easy pass. Just be careful with wording on the midterm, and it should be okay.
