In this course, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of design for theatre, dance, performance, and live events. You’ll be taught about four disciplines of design including Scenery, Costume, Lighting, and Projection along with a series of approaches to formulate and communicate your own design work to others. Inspired by texts, music, and research, you will create visual designs that express ideas and aesthetic choices while fulfilling practical requirements for the performer or participant in an intentional environment. Through hands-on projects and class activities, you will create designs for live performance through writing, research, 2D media and 3D models.

CollegeProfessor Scott was one of the least considerate professor I have ever had. She claims to be easily accessible through text and email, however she disregards what the email is about completely. I had unforeseen issues with the midterm and once I emailed her AND the TA about they both simply ignored it. I thought it was very unprofessional of her.
She is an awesome professor. Don't let the pop quizzes fool you, they help a lot for the midterm and final!
Absolutely love Professor Scott. She is so genuinely considerate of fostering creative freedom and allowing students to create what THEY want to. Every class was full of laughter and in depth discussion about current projects in the theater department. Homework was incredibly easy and while the final project took a lot of work, it was really fun!
Professor Scott had the class write the questions and answers for the midterm and final. The midterm questions were based on 9 hours of videos, 3 hours consisted of 1 minute long interviews with little or no connecting ideas. Notes are not allowed for the midterm and final and all students were required to be on camera as they took the tests.
Vickie is one of the most invested professors on campus. Genuinely cares about the material, and about helping her students. As long as you do the work and be respectful, there's no reason you can't get an A. She somehow molds designers out of the clay that all frazzled students are made of. An amazing person and teacher.
One of the BEST teachers ever!!! She's very experienced and knowledgeable in theater/design etc. She may seem intimidating at first, but she's freaking cool, funny, friendly & really cares about her students. I would recommend taking a small sized class w/ her! As long as you are willing to learn, put in the work, and work hard u will be fine :)
