Italian Pop culture is a cultural phenomenon completely and intrinsically linked to the modern Italian society, permeating every aspect of Italian everyday life. Italian pop culture represents the creative aspect of the mass, influencing trends and desires of a large portion of the population. Although Italian Pop culture started in the XX century, it continues to evolve and transform itself, thanks to the advancement of modern technology, globalization and homologation consumption, influencing various sectors (music, style and fashion, food, movies and television, technology, shopping habits, art and language.)

CollegeShe was super sweet, you will need to do a decent amount of studying outside of class because the lectures don't fully prepare you for the exams and quizzes in my opinion. But it is an easy class.
Professor Borromeo is a kind woman and clearly passionate about teaching but this class was just not it! She assigns multiple projects (individual/group) and her feedback on any work you turn in does not help you improve at all. You learn more from reading the textbook than her presentations. Would not take her class to fulfill the GE requirement.
Grading criteria was unclear, often went on tangents in Italian and expected beginner students to understand, quizzes were strangly formatted, poor feedback on projects, and the structure of the course was subpar.
She has a serious issue with organization to the point where nearly every single day students would come to class complaining. Her documents are inconsistent, the websites/textbooks she uses are chaotic and don't function half the time... etc. Additionally, she literally never goes over pronunciation and just kinda expects students to know it???
Carla made Italian a fun language to learn. I took her Fall 2018, 4 quizzes (none dropped), 3 projects, online and book homework to go over in class, had one partner project, and our final was a written project. Easy to approach and ask questions to and she makes the language easy to understand. If you get the chance to take Ital1 with her, do it!
Fun class, as are most of the elementary Italian courses. Just do the reading and study for the quizzes and you'll pass.
