CollegeProfessor Bermudez is a good professor, I think she gets super passionate about what she teaches and wants students to engage more and have meaningful conversations. She comes off intimidating, and will get upset if readings are not done. No midterms/final exams. Three written assignments worth 75% total. Can only have 2 excused absences.
I find that she seems full of herself. Ended class about 20 minutes early one time saying because it was our fault (the students), when clearly a class ending that early shows a reflection of her. Harsh grader, interrupts students, and I have felt at times she has gave passive aggressive comments.
Although some may find her blunt and a bit intimidating at times, which she can be I personally found her to be kind. Her teaching style is firm and straightforward, especially in lectures, which can feel intense. But it's clear she genuinely cares about the subject. The class itself isn't bad at all—it's composed of three short papers.
Prof. Silvia is honestly just mean. No matter what answer you give she will find something wrong with it. Easy class so might be worth it to take but just be ready for her to be angry at everything.
I totally understand why other reviewers think she was tough, but in this class and my experience personally, I really liked her. She definitely leads with a hard hand, but she cared about this subject and taught it well. She is also really kind in private, but in lecture can come off as menacing. I give her 5/5 for her dedication to this subject.
It's all true. The worst professor I have had the misfortune of meeting my entire academic career. Rude, belittling, and just neurotically insane to be honest. She yells at and scolds the class daily about effort yet literally did not even lecture once. On the final class she stormed out after mocking students in response to feedback on the course.
