Despite how difficult it is to understand her thick accent, Nguyen is an amazing professor who does her best to teach well. She tries to make her lectures as engaging as possible, and wants to connect with the students and help them succeed. If you are taking gen chem classes be sure to get her or Vankoppen.
Quyen is incredibly helpful and truly wants her students to succeed. She gave out practice tests which were basically identical to the midterms. Do them and go to her reviews. Tests are very fair and even gave extra credit. VanKoppen's 1A class was harder than this. Quyen's accent is pretty thick but you get used to it.
So basically I went to every class, studied hard for the exams, and still got screwed in the end. Midterms were very fair, but the final came out of now where. It ended bringing my grade down from a solid B (85%) to a C!!! Fantastic teacher, but it's just unfair to raise the bar like that on your already stressed out students.
Great professor. Extremely helpful. If you work for your grade you'll get it. Do her practice exams and homework and you'll be fine for her exams. Read the textbook like you're supposed to! Her accent is thick, but you can get use to it =) Previous comment was too harsh probably becase he/she failed the course and put no effort into it.
Her accent is so ridiculously thick that it's impossible to learn from her. She tries to be nice and helpful but really just kind of turned me off to chem. She tries to be very hyper and happy about chem and really just comes across as condescending of other fields such as physics and engineering. I would say take another professor (van koppen!)
She's probably one of the most caring professors I've had so far. Her grading is fairly generous, and she'll never deny you of help. So getting a good grade isn't very difficult. Overall she is an excellent professor, and a bit of a rarity in terms of caring for her students. Not to mention she's also very good at teaching.
Awesome Professor! Truly and sincerely wants her students to not only learn the material but master it. Her grading is beyond generous, she makes it so that if do your work diligently ( and come to office hours on a regular basis) you will have the grade you desire. However she has an excellent work-ethic and expects the same from her students.
