This class satisfy a lot of things. There are a lot of long readings, and one week we needed to read an entire book. Weekly quizzes were ok, and the grading was ok at first. However for the final paper, my TA thought my outline was good, and after I wrote a paper based on the outline, I got a D on the final paper.

Prof was very kind but the class was incredibly boring. No exams, five online quizzes, section participation, two 1-page lecture reflections, and a 5 page final essay. I got an A and only went to lecture twice during the whole quarter. If you just need the GE credit then go for it. If you actually want to learn something, look for a different prof.

She really cares about the subject and is sweet. Only five quizzes and a few short papers and a final paper which really was a reflection on how the material in the quarter affected our perception of gender. Amazing class.

This class was so important to attend lecture for, that she had to send out a passive aggressive email about it every single week. Readings are insanely out of touch for an introductory lower division class. Extremely self-righteous.

I legitimately enjoyed this class, but it was mainly taught by the TA's it seemed. Marina Chavez was really great. The readings were inspirational, but super long, and I loved the discussions w/ the authors. I'm conflicted, the course was great, the professor not so much. I don't think I talked to her once during the quarter. Eye-opening. Not hard.

she slacked off a lot and was passive aggressive when confronted. left everything (guest lectures/reflections/final paper) for the last 3 weeks even though the syllabus said otherwise. very little communication with students and didn't answer emails. readings were heavy and her lectures (always late) were mostly just quotes from the book. don't rec

Extremely disorganized and doesn't respond to emails. Graded by section participation, quizzes, and one 5 page final essay. Constantly fell behind when posting assignments and lectures, yet still expected us to pick up her slack. The class wasn't hard but she was so disorganized that it set us up for failure. A real headache.

As long as you read and watched lectures you can get an easy A in the class. While the class was text-heavy, none of the readings I had were boring. The class really opened my mind and I would take it if you are interested in learning something new. This class has different topics depending on the quarter you take it which is super cool!

Coursework is manageable and reasonable. Although the information on assignments was a bit delayed, they were not very difficult. There are a few quizzes, two short one-page reflections on guest speakers (did one so far and did not take long to do), and a final paper. The course overall was not bad but could be improved by spreading assignments.

Most disorganized class I have ever taken, would not recommend whatsoever. Weve learned nothing and are expected to write a 5-6 page paper with two other one page assignments just in the last 2 weeks of the course because she didnt assign them earlier (even though she said she would). A complete waste of a quarter.

Class is very disorganized. Assignments are posted last minute and all towards the end of the quarter.

Not gonna lie, I have never been in a class this disorganized before. I am constantly stressed because I don't get what we have to do or what is going on. It is week seven and we have no details on our final paper or on the guest lectures that are 20% of our grade). There are tons of readings and the lectures are rarely posted on time.

Class is extremely unorganized. Heavy readings every week with extremely specific quiz questions on them every other week. Lectures are always posted late, if posted at all that week.

Honestly, wait to take this class in person. Lectures were always late, readings were pretty heavy. Quiz at the end of each week on the readings and lectures which was pretty easy but overall not worth the stress from waiting for the material to be posted. Material is interesting, though

Professor Diaz is a great professor who always comes to class and gives interesting lectures. The class is graded based on only a few things but you need to keep up on all the weekly readings to survive section. Attendance is part of the grade. The final is an art project that gives you lots of freedom and its fun! This class is great, so take it.

From week 1-9 Diaz-Sanchez was a good and knowledgeable professor. When the class' only TA chose to join the COLA movement Diaz-Sanchez had only one class and no sections for three weeks. Due to the coronavirus many professors cancelled or made their finals optional. Yet this professor still made her students turn in a paper and an art project.

Micaela has my heart. She is SUCH a caring person! She can sometimes come off as a little serious but if you approach her 1 on 1 she will go out of her way to help you in whatever way she can.

Professor Diaz Sanches is truly amazing in the way she teaches. Her educational pedagogy revolves around having a firm understanding of multiple theories and to learn about these by having them in conversation with each other. She pushes hard to make sure her students make the connections between life and text, and, text to text.

Prof. Sanchez has probably been my favorite professor since I've been at the university. She is extremely knowledgeable and generally an amazing scholar, thinker, and teacher.

Can can be a little slow, but has extremely interesting readings! Great guest speakers and short films. Midterm is based off of readings and the final is a paper with your creative art piece. Would take another class with her again!
