Mike creates a very strong and encouraging learning environment. He provides you with all the materials to lead you to success. Rewatch his lectures multiple times and do all the practice problems he gives. Really engage and try to learn during section. Content was 50% new and 50% MCDB 1A so it was easier to learn.

He has been one of my favorite professors here at UCSB, and he is not only an amazing lecturer but is also genuinely deeply invested in the success of all of his students. The course is truly designed to maximize the amount of student success, and I would recommend this class to anyone who is slightly interested in the subject matter.

One of the best stem professors I've ever had! Although the class is graded mostly by exams, he drops the lowest and explains lectures in an understandable manner. He wants students to succeed and provides multiple opportunities to practice problems and get help if things don't make sense. Would definitely recommend taking him!

Mike is such a nice person and he wants you to succeed, but he does not by any means write easy tests! Completely bombed the first test, but studied like crazy for the 2nd two and did okay. I highly recommend going to OH, and really try and do well on the first exam so that you don't have to take the final. He did give extra credit and he "curves".

Best bio professor at UCSB. Wilton cares for all of his students and wants them to succeed. EC is available and exams are very similar to practice tests. Do ALL the weekly problems and practice tests. Go to OH with questions ready to ask. 3 exams, but you can drop one of them (including the final). Exams are tricky so study thoroughly.

Mike was a great lecturer and definitely made biology easier to understand for everyone. He taught you everything you needed to know for the tests and as long as you reviewed the slides and wrote out stuff you would do well. I especially liked how he tried to learn everyone's name and always was trying to invite people to his office hours.

Dr. Wilton is literally THE BEST!!! He's a caring professor that wants you to understand the content and do well in class. The class is super fair and his lectures are great. Study early on and go to OH for clarifications on anything (he's very approachable to ask questions) and you'll do well. So thankful I took 110 with him.

Amazing professor. He cares so much about his students and it shows through. The content might be tough at times but he is always willing to help and even provides resources for research after you're done with his class. Such a sweet professor def take him.

The GOAT. Biochem is a lot of content but Wilton gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Just be sure to do the problems he gives, ask questions, and try your hardest! He will make sure you do well as long as you put in the effort.

OMGGG, I love Mike's lecture sooo much. A perfectly great professor. Organized lectures. He will emphasize important contents during lectures, and he is pretty willing and patient to talk with students after class. Overally, I love his lectures very much.

Everyone would rate him a 5 and anyone who rates him below a 5 is insane (and this will never happen). Best professor ever, with supreme lectures and doable exams. Really caring and energic. Wants everyone in the class to success

Mike has been my favorite professor at UCSB so far. He explains concepts thoroughly and always answers questions. His lectures are engaging and don't make you want to fall asleep, even at 8am. Office hours are very helpful and he is easily reachable if you need clarification on anything.

Have had him for two classes and he is so approachable inside and outside of class for help. Genuinely wants students to succeed unlike some other professors who are only there for research. Engaging lectures and very considerate of student needs! best professor in STEM i've taken!

Such a solid professor. Wants you to learn the material and actually will put in work to help you at office hours. Clear and consistent on the info he wants you to know. Best professor I've ever had. It feels like he has your back/there to support you.

If I could add more than 3 tags to describe Prof Wilton: Caring and Inspirational. I've been taking classes at UCSB for over 2 years and unfortunately haven't had such great experience with any other prof. I think one of the reason how well we do in class really depends on the professor and their passion towards what they teach. Best Prof at UCSB.

Dr. Wilton is a wonderful lecturer and clearly well educated in his subject. I looked forward to his class every day, and he made the material super engaging. He was very approachable and welcoming, and made it easy to reach out and ask questions. He was very passionate and easy to listen to, and communicated with students throughout the quarter.

I loved Mike's lectures - he definitely knows his content, speaks loudly and clearly, makes jokes and tries to make the content engaging, and above all really cares about his students. He and Lalo both went out of their way to show students that they belong in the Bio field, and clearly want to do anything needed to ensure our success.

Mike is such a great professor, genuinely cares about his students, and is so accessible outside of class. If you are struggling, it is so important to reach out to him because he WILL help you and he wants his students to succeed. Although, the tests can be tricky and they definitely require a thorough understanding of the material.

Mike is genuinely one of the best professors I've ever had. He always managed to make lecture interesting and you can tell he cares about all of his students and how much they understand the material.

Mike is an absolute beauty. His lectures are quite good, nothing too special, but the amount he cares about his students is incredible. His research is focused on basically 'how to teach better' and it shows in his teaching. He listens to feedback better than anyone I've seen before and it's resulted in him structuring his classes in the best way.

Professor Holton is the best. I was dreading taking MCDB 1B after struggling through 1A because the first part of the class is taught by Professor S. Low (eew), whos midterm I completely failed. Then Wilton came along, and boom, two midterms with a B and a high C later, and I passed the class with a B. Take Professor Wilton, you wont regret it!

mike is the best! he genuinely cares about helping you succeed and is incredibly empathetic. he sets clear expectations and exams are reasonable if u study. definitely go to OH--they give you insight on his thought process when answering questions which is a good way to gauge what will be on the exam. overall, one of my fave profs ever
