i actually took microbial genomics taught by prof santoro and it was amazing. she is so knowledgeable about what she teaches and is incredible kind and helpful to all students! i learned so much and i would take the class over again if i could
Absolutely amazing professor. Lecture attendance is required and will supplement the readings, which you will need for the assignments. We had weekly forums and two essays, very clear criteria. Very accessible outside of class and email. Links the Basque community to so many aspects of this world. You cant go wrong taking one of her classes!
Very fun and interesting class, taught in English. Grade was based on weekly discussion posts (100% as long as you meet the work requirement), and two essays. The class was extremely interesting and would recommend anybody to take it.
This is the second class I've taken with Esti and I cannot recommend her highly enough. The class's content was difficult enough, but Esti made it fun & accessible. She was very understanding with extensions & grading. She wrote the textbook and provides it for free, and gives both pronunciation guides and very useful activities. Easy & fascinating
SHE IS THE SWEETEST PROFESSOR. Take any class with her!! She is the best and is the most caring prof ever. She cares about her students and truly wants them to succeed. She understands there is a lot going on in our lives and is so understanding if you just speak to her.
Professor Santoro is awesome! Seems passionate about her work and creates a welcoming atmosphere in her class. Even if you don't have a scientific background, she explains concepts about microbial ocean clearly and appreciates discussion from different perspectives/non-stem majors
Dr. Estibalitz covers all the basque courses for the Spanish Department. Most down to earth professor at UCSB. All work is done on Gauchospace including exams and you are given 2 attempts. 2 hw a week (15 mins max). If you are dealing with a personal crisis, she will happily give extensions. She made her own textbook and it is FREE. Best prof ever
One of the best Professor. Super approachable inside and outside of class. Two hw assignments with two tries. Two projects, one alone and one with a group. She is super kind, sweet, and caring, and genuinely wants you to pass the class. She encourages participating and makes the class feel super entertaining. One of the best Prof. on campus.
I took intro to basque with her and she is the sweetest and most approachable professor ever. 2 homework assignments a week, 2 projects and 2 tests (that you get 2 attmepts on). All of the work is pretty easy if you pay attention!
Prof Santoro is amazing. She is super intelligent & easy to talk to if you have any questions. I highly recommend taking EEMB 144 if she is teaching. The only semi negative thing I can say is that she talks on the fast side but even then its not bad. Grade is based off a few hw assignments, midterm, section participation & final. Take this class!
This class will change your perception of all natural things, by imbuing a well rounded understanding of the metabolic diversity and strategies of microbes. You will NEVER look at a tree, the ocean, or a cow in the same way again. Beyond the content, this professor is particularly good at explaining the material in a relatable and clear way.
