Terrible! He can't teach, his tests are unfair and hard and he is just a terrible professor and person.

Had him last year, worst professor ever. I got an A but I still think he was terrible. He needs to retire already.

I party hard at least four times a week and i got an "A". come on, it's so much easier to explain things than to do the math. You complainers will find that you won't be able to find a job after college. You need at least a 3.6 if you want to be treated well by your prospective employers. Grow up!

Wants students to know the physics of the situation. Gets a bad rap from past students. Need to work hard to get the most out of the classes he teaches because he does not teach the book. He teaches concepts. His system worked well for me.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER! Yuen is a god compared to him. His tests didn't even properly test how well you know the material, they just tested how much of an **** he was. I HATE MATTHYS WITH A PASSION

worst teacher ever. accuses everyone of cheating. tests consist of essays. before matthys, i thought i was very interested in the subject, but he has completely ruined that for me.

I'd choose matthys anyday over yuen. i do agree that he is the second worst teacher I've ever had. Don't go to his office hours unless you did the reading. Show him your highlited book and he will help you out. Be thankful that he's teaching thermo next quarter instead of yuen.

I don't know if he does this every year, but at first he acts like he cares about the students, then he accuses all the wrong students of cheating. Very paranoid, thinks everyone is a cheater. -Fosters an unhealthy atmosphere. Rude, stubborn. Exam/Hw grading is horrible.Made me hate Fluid dyn.

I would give him a zero but this thing would not let me and the guy that got a B+ had to have done some extra favors.

Matthys was a good teacher. I got a B+ in his class and didn't find it very difficult. Too many wussies at UCSB that only complain and don't study.

Hey fellow readers, I took fluids with Mattys back in 2000 and he was the same dick then that he appears to be now. I just want to say, I went off to graduate school and took fluids and loved it, dont let one bad apple spoil your interest in fluids...

This guy could not be more of an ****. The class is extremely unorganized, the lectures are useless, and the project is rediculous and unnecesarily complicated. I think he's dueling with Yuen for the worst prof i've had at ucsb

Prof. Matthys is the worst teacher ever. He uses words such as "ID" instead of idea, we are constantly playing "what country is his accent from", he teaches in powerpoint yet refuses to put them online and is the biggest douch I know.

Tests consists of essays. he is very unhelpfull and rude. Abrupt. Boring. Dumb. Stubborn sob. doesnt care about students.

In addition to making it very clear that he has no desire to teach, and no interest if we learn the material or not, Matthys is highly condescending which makes for a very unpleasant classroom environment.

Gave unjustified accusations of cheating throughout the class and created an untrusting environment. His tests would set students up for failure by being vague, all encompassing, and with no prior guidance for studying. you could tell he hated teaching

Eric Matthys is by far one of the worst professors that I have ever had at UCSB. He is pompous and his class feels like a Nazi concentration camp. His class was essentially worthless and I learned nothing.
