CollegeI love Wona sunsangnim. She truly cares about helping her students learn and organizes many in-class activities to do so. Be ready to have homework every night, but her grading criteria is very clear and she is very accessible by email. You also don't need to go to office hours to ask questions because she often fosters kittens and you can say hi.
The class moves really fast, however, it is easy to pass as long as you show up and do your homework. She makes it so that your grade is not overly weighted on tests but rather on participation and homework. Do not take the summer session if you have no prior knowledge of Korean or at least be willing to put in effort at the beginning to catch up.
Amazing teacher, super caring and I really learned a lot from her class. Lots of group work and speaking practice, both in and out of class. Be prepared to study a lot out of class though because we were usually quizzed on new vocab only a few days after being first introduced.
She doesn't want her students to have to study outside class so as a long as you show up and put in just enough effort to study for quizzes (which aren't hard at all btw) you'll get a good grade
Professor Wona is amazing. She is very lecture heavy and very fair. She makes sure that they are fun. There is always laughs in the class and she makes sure that everyone is involved. If there are new kids in the class, she makes sure everyone gets to know them. You are bound to get embarrassed in class, but it is all in good jokes and super fun!
i took the full two year Korean series with her and it was such a great experience, if you can take this class i highly highly recommend!! second year is more work and it moves quickly, so don't underestimate the effort it will take to get a higher grade, but its 100% worth it. she sometimes brings her adorable foster kittens to office hours
