Examines commitments to religious freedom as an essential part of modern politics. Teaches analytical case law method to read U.S. cases and international court rulings protecting civil and human rights.

Prerequisites: Graduate standing or professor approval. Graduate students will have additional readings and extra meetings with professor.

Such a bad lecturer. The only teacher I have seriously disliked at UCSB. Thought it would be interesting but I had to force myself to do anything for this class. I went to almost all the lectures and still did not do good int this class.

Really easy class. A lot of writing and you must include the readings in your essays. The lectures were pointless and she didnt say much in class. Focus on text and youll be fine

The subject matter is interesting and so is the class when you have discussions, debates, or questions, but her lectures can get pretty dull. Section depends on the people in it, but the TA tends to talk a lot. Midterm was easy just two quick essays and you just have to argue a point. Not graded on style. Decent class. Reading is really optional.
